Help Save Building with Historical Background in Serving Fort Worth’s African American Community

Save Brooks Health and Cultural Center

A major historical landmark in Fort Worth is in jeopardy and the Evans Avenue Investment Group hopes to salvage the Brooks Medical Clinic and revitalize it to once again serve the community. The facility has been re-named The Brooks Health and Cultural Center, and we are launching a major fundraising effort to save this local treasure!

The new facility is comprised of twenty suites and will provide an array of beauty, health and wellness services including general practitioners, weight loss specialists, aestheticians, skin care experts and more. “When I arrived in Fort Worth, the only people I knew were Dr. Clarence Brooks, son of medical doctor and human rights activist Dr. Marion Brooks, and his wife. We became very close,” recounts Jim Austin, a principal of the Evans Avenue Investment Group. “Dr. Marion Brooks, Clarence and the other four African American medical practitioners that made up the Brooks Medical Clinic were a vital resource to the community for over sixty years. When this opportunity presented itself, I was moved and honored to re-establish this site of healing and cultural significance by ensuring that it will continue to serve our community.” Joining Austin in this revitalization project is Dr. Keith Rigsby and New England Patriot Defensive End Dietrick Wise.

In addition to an array of health and wellness services, the Brooks Health and Cultural Center will house an art gallery comprised of works honoring Brooks Medical Clinic Founder Dr. Marion Brooks, living legends Judge Clifford Davis and the champion of Juneteenth, Opal Lee. Austin continues, “We want to celebrate the community through dynamic visual art installations and provide a canvas for both established and emerging artists to showcase their works. It is our intention for The Brooks Health and Cultural Center to shine as a bright and inspiring light for the community for generations to come!”
