UCI earns a spot in Saturday night’s 7:00 final against the winner of USC/Lewis, who are playing later Thursday evening.

Tillie also added an ace, eight digs and tied Scott Kevorken for the team lead in blocks with three. Connor Hughes added 10 kills, while opposite Carson Clark fired a season-high five aces and knocked down nine kills. Libero Michael Brinkley posted a career-high 15 digs, while middle blocker Dan McDonnell added seven kills.

Nick Goodell and Joe Sunder each recorded 15 kills to lead Penn State (23-6). Aaron Russell contributed 10 kills in the loss.

UCI held a 6-3 lead in the first set before Penn State went on a 6-1 run to take the 9-7 lead. UCI would never tie or lead the rest of the set. UCI, the nation’s best hitting team, hit .100 (10-7-30).

Carson Clark started serving in the second set and fired two aces to help the Anteaters jump out to a 6-2 lead. The Nittany Lions had three straight hitting errors to extend the UCI advantage to 11-5. Setter Chris Austin took a swing for a kill that was followed by a kill by Connor Hughes to push the margin to 17-11. Kills by Clark and Kevin Tillie ended the set 25-18. Hughes had five kills in the set.

In the third set, UCI scored four unanswered on a kill by Clark, two kills from Hughes and an ace by Dan McDonnell to take the 14-7 lead. Three consecutive kills by Clark, Tillie and McDonnell gave UCI the 20-10 advantage. The Anteaters would go on to a 25-15 victory.

Penn State used two Anteater attack errors and a kill to open a 6-3 lead in the fourth set. UCI closed to 6-5 on a Scott Kevorken kill in the middle, but Penn State answered with three consecutive kills to extend the gap to 9-5. Setter Daniel Stork stepped in with the ‘Eaters trailing 12-6. The Nittany Lions led 15-11 before UCI went on a 6-2 run which was capped by a Tillie solo block to knot the score at 17-17. PSU scored the next point then a Nittany Lion service error and two Tillie kills plus a PSU ball that went into the net put UCI ahead 21-18. Two more Penn State attack errors gave the Anteaters match point which Tillie delivered, 25-19.

The Anteaters will be seeking their third national title after winning the 2007 and 2009 championships.

Two sons find themselves at odds when they are met with the challenge of caring for their ailing father, who is determined to hold on to his home and the loving memory of his wife.
Jubilee Theatre continues its 31st season with Broke-ology, “The science of being broke”, a new play by the dynamic young playwright Nathan Louis Jackson, opening May 18. The comedic drama, set in Kansas City, Kansas, takes place in the early 80′s and present day.
Broke-ology’s cast includes Jerrold Trice as William King, the family patriarch; Amir Ali as Ennis King, the frustrated first-time father; David Jeremiah (recently seen as Lincoln in Top Dog Under Dog at Jubilee), as Malcolm King, the upwardly mobile younger brother determined to chart his own course; and Once On This Island’s T.K. Bell as Sonia King, the loving wife and mother who has passed on but reappears, haunting William’s imagination. Tre Garrett directs.
“Broke-ology is about family – the simple joys as well as the trials and tribulations that hold families together,” said Garrett. “This new play explores the comedy and drama of real life – and can be as exciting as a brotherly game of dominoes.”
Not only is the King family “broke” in the traditional sense of not having enough money, the family is also “broken” – with each member headed in his own direction, by chance or choice.
Boke-ology, add one

Broke-ology is part of Jubilee Theater’s Pair Up project. Through Pair Up, social, civic, and professional men’s organizations are invited to pair up with young men throughout our community for an evening of entertainment and influence.
“It is important to engage our young men, and inspire them towards greater potential,” Garrett said, “but it is more important that they know that the community cares about and expects great things from them.” Jubilee began Pair Up with young women and Pretty Fire earlier this season.
Broke-ology opens Friday, May 18 and runs through Sunday, June 10. Evening performances are at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday; matinees are at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets range from $10-$25 and may be purchased online at jubileetheatre.org, in person at the Theatre’s box office at 506 Main Street or by calling the box office at 817-338-4411. The box office is openTuesday-Saturday, noon-6:00 p.m. and one hour before show time.
Jubilee Theatre, the Fort Worth/Dallas area’s only African American theatre producing a full season of shows, exists to create and present theatrical works that reflect the African-American experience. Located at 506 Main Street in Sundance Square, downtown Fort Worth, Jubilee is easily accessible from anywhere in the Metroplex.
